Chartered accounting for small businesses — tax, VAT, payroll, books and advice, done properly for a fraction of high-street fees.

Tax. Books. Advisory.

The problem

You're paying for their office,
not your accounts.

Most small businesses hand a traditional firm around £2,500 a year for tax returns, VAT, payslips and books. That fee isn't paying for better accounting — it's paying for a high-street branch, layers of staff and everything that comes with them. MSK runs fully online, so the overheads disappear and the price follows.

Typical high-street firm

£2,500/yr

Office rent, reception, partners' salaries and admin layers — all built into your bill before any accounting happens.

MSK, fully online

from £/mo

The same filings, the same deadlines met, a chartered accountant on call — over video, phone and email, with on-site visits when you genuinely need one.

Everything handled

One desk. Every job your
accountant should be doing.

No bolt-ons, no surprise invoices for a five-minute phone call. Your plan covers the lot, and your records live in one tidy place you can actually see.

Self Assessment & Corporation Tax

Personal and company returns prepared, checked and filed with HMRC — with every allowance and relief you're legitimately entitled to claimed, not missed.

VAT & Making Tax Digital

Registration advice, quarterly returns and fully MTD-compliant digital records — including the new MTD Income Tax rules for sole traders.

Payroll & payslips

RTI-compliant payroll for directors and staff. Payslips issued on time, every time, whether you employ one person or twenty.

Bookkeeping & ledgers

Your day-to-day records kept clean and current — a proper accounts ledger, not a shoebox of receipts you dread opening in January.

Revenue & invoice tracking

Know what you've billed, what's been paid and who still owes you — at a glance, on any device.

Records & history

Historical data stored securely in an HMRC-compliant format, so past years are always one search away — for you, a lender or an inspection.

Forecasts & projections

Cash-flow forecasts and what-if scenarios built by a working FP&A analyst — see next quarter before it happens.

Efficiency reviews

An annual dissection of your numbers to catch inefficiencies, cut waste and make sure the business keeps more of what it earns.

Tax planning, done properly

Plain-English guidance on the reliefs, allowances and structures the rules genuinely permit — so you stay efficient and stay compliant.

Every invoice carries your brand — not a software company's watermark. Upload a logo once and it's on everything.

Minimal, standard or fully itemised — pick a template and decide exactly how much your customer sees.

Built inside your desk

Members build these in the Invoice Studio, download them as PDFs, and every invoice flows straight into their books. Included on every paid plan.

Built for how you trade

Cash, card or both —
your books work the way you do.

Most online accountants quietly assume a bank feed solves everything. Plenty of real businesses still run on cash. MSK is built for all three.

Cash only

Takings book, done for you

A simple daily routine — photograph the till roll or jot the day's takings — and we turn it into compliant records, accurate VAT and a clean year-end. No card machine required.

Hybrid

Cash and card, reconciled

Card takings feed in from your bank; cash gets the same simple routine. We reconcile the two so nothing is double-counted and nothing slips through.

Cashless

Bank feeds, fully automated

Transactions flow straight from your bank and card provider into your ledger. You barely lift a finger; you just see clean numbers.

Your industry, not a template

Tailored to the business you
actually run.

A chicken shop's books are nothing like a driving instructor's. Mileage, tips, CIS deductions, stock, cash floats, seasonal bookings — your setup is built around how your trade really works, from day one.

Free tool · Tailor my desk

Four answers. Your exact setup.

No generic packages. Tell the desk how your business actually works and see precisely what would be set up for you — and what it would cost.

Sole trader or limited company?

The £1,000 question,
answered with your numbers.

The right structure depends on your profit, your risk and your plans — not on what a mate at another business chose. On your free call you'll get a plain-English recommendation with the tax worked out both ways, so you can see the difference in pounds.

Sole trader tends to win when…

  • Profits are modest and you want minimal admin
  • You're testing an idea or trading part-time
  • Privacy matters — no public Companies House filings
  • You want the simplest possible tax return

A limited company tends to win when…

  • Profits are strong enough for salary-and-dividend planning
  • You want your personal assets protected from business risk
  • Clients or contracts expect a company to deal with
  • You plan to grow, hire or bring in a partner

Free tool · Structure Decider

See the tax both ways, with your numbers

Two sliders: what you expect to make, and how much of it you actually need to take out. That second one is the real decider — money left in a company is only taxed at Corporation Tax rates. Uses 2026/27 rates, including this April's dividend increases.

As a sole trader you'd keep

Through a limited company you'd keep

Illustration only, not personal advice: assumes a £12,570 director salary, no other income, and ignores pension planning, student loans and company running costs. Profit kept in the company has paid Corporation Tax but faces dividend tax only when you later draw it. Company pension contributions and a spouse's shareholding can shift this further — that's what the free call works through properly.

Who you work with

A chartered accountant,
not a call centre.

Your accountant

Muhammed Siddiq Khan, CGMA

Chartered Global Management Accountant and working Group FP&A analyst, with a background in data analysis, systems and advanced Excel. That blend means you don't just get compliance — you get someone who reads your numbers the way a finance director would, and tells you what they mean.

FAQ

Fair questions,
straight answers.

How can it be this cheap?

Because you're not paying for an office. MSK runs fully online — meetings happen over video or phone, and on-site visits happen at your premises when they're genuinely needed. Remove the branch, the reception and the admin layers, and the same chartered work costs a fraction of the high-street price.

Are you actually qualified?

Yes. MSK Advisory is led by Muhammed Siddiq Khan, a CGMA chartered management accountant working in group FP&A, supported by an ICAEW-chartered (ACA) accountant and a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) on call for specialist work. You get a small, senior team — not a ticket queue.

My business is cash only. Is that a problem?

Not at all. You get a simple daily routine — photograph the till roll or note the day's takings — and MSK turns it into compliant, HMRC-ready records. Cash, hybrid and card-only businesses are all fully supported.

Should I be a sole trader or a limited company?

It depends on your profit, your appetite for admin, and how much personal risk you're comfortable with. On your free call you'll see the tax worked out both ways with your own numbers, plus a clear recommendation — and if incorporating is right for you, MSK handles the setup.

What about Making Tax Digital?

MTD for Income Tax began in April 2026 for self-employed people and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000, which means digital records and quarterly updates to HMRC. Every MSK plan is MTD-compliant as standard, so the change is handled for you.

Can you take over from my current accountant?

Yes, and you won't have to do the awkward part. MSK contacts your existing accountant, arranges professional handover of your records, and notifies HMRC that we now act for you. You just carry on running your business.

Will I ever actually meet you?

If you want to, yes. Most clients find video calls faster and easier, but when a face-to-face meeting matters it happens at your premises — your restaurant, your surgery, your site — not at an office you're paying for.

Thirty minutes. Your numbers.
No obligation.

Bring your last tax bill and what you currently pay your accountant. You'll leave the call knowing your best structure, your likely fee, and exactly what you'd save.
